Srisailam Temple, Andra Pradesh, India

The ancient and Sacred temple of Srisailam is of great historical and religious significance. Situated on the south bank of the river Krishna, in the Nallamalai forest, on a 457 meter high hill is the Bhramaramba Mallikharjunaswamy temple, one of the 12 Jyothirlingas in the country. One of the state’s three famous Linga Kshetrams (Draksharamam and Nagarjunamo are the other two), it is also known as “Sri Mallikharjunam” and “Sri Parvatham”. The temple is also the seat of Mahakali in the form of Bhramaramba.The most appealing feature of this temple is that any one of any cast or creed can touch the deity and worship here. We woke up late in the morning and rushed to get ready for the day. We again took th breakfast at the C’s and then walked to the Macfarlane Memorial Church. Which was estd. in 1891. It is situated uphill and easy viewable from almost all the places in kalimpong. As we were winding our wonderful trip so we gave a quick visit to the market place for some fruits and stuff. Our driver took us to Chhangey falls and then we reached to Reshyap ( thanks god we din’t track, we really do not feel that track is suitable for tracking. Quite a lot landslide and  uneven track.) and felt like we reached on top of hill . All in 360, nice n calm village, but all clouds. Continue reading

Madurai from KodaiKanal

Starting up early will be nice. So we started at 9:00AM to Madurai from KodaiKanal bus stand. And reached at around 12PM at Madurai. From there we went to Madurai Temple.

Just shocked by some boards within the temple. I don’t remember the exact. But they are like, “Only Hindu’s are allowed after this point” and “No foreigner is allowed after this point”. Well certain things cannot be controlled and explained.

This led to closure of our wonderful trip and yet another sweet memory of lifetime. 🙂

Kodaikanal – City of hills

Kodaikanal mntravelogThe day of site seeing and fun. We woke up early( Mosque prayers) also the 9:30AM was the bus. Water was really chilled (6AM-10AM hot water). Breakfast was complimentary. We have got the travel agent at the door step in the morning, SKM tours and travels. I guess they have tie up with hotel. They were having 4 tour plans :

1. Kodai Fullday Sight seeing Rs 150 per person
2. Forest Tour Rs 250 per person
3. Picnic Tour Rs 175 per person
4. VIP Forest Tour Rs 225 per person

In the morning they make Rs 300 per person for VIP Forest Tour + Kodai Fullday Sight seeing. So we agreed and started with the trip.

Munnar to Kodaikanal

We have already planned that we will start at morning for Kodaikanal. So we started with local bus as follows to kodaikanal:

Munnar(8:00AM) to Theni – 3 hrs @ Rs 94 for 2 people
Theni to VathalaGundu – 1 hr @ Rs 30
VathalaGundu to Kodaikanal – 4 hrs @ Rs 40

So total Munnar to kodaikanal with Local Bus = 8 hrs / Rs 164 / 2 nature lover.

Munnar – Day 2

Really a new day with all the cool nature and her. We wake up a little late and packed the necessary things for the site-seeing. We booked private Indica for Rs 1000 (Negotiable) for Sight Seeing in Munnar. We got a small manual having four sight seeing in directions as below :

1. Mattupatty Direction
2. Coimbature Directions
3. Cochin Direction
4. Thekkady Direction
